Campaign evolution
The campaign has been initiated and planned by a small group of concerned local people. Details of the members of the ‘campaign group’ can be found in the ‘contact us’ chapter. Wider involvement of the community is being enabled by the formation of a community group. Interim financial management and fund-holding will be achieved through the RGVS trust. As the final vehicle for purchase or lease is established the elements can be varied accordingly. This will include the setting up of an appropriate ‘management structure’.
The Community Group
We are inviting everyone in the community to join the Community Group. This will enable us to form the foundations of a community-supported organisation for the planned community store. Our aim is to encourage at least 1,000 local residents and other interested individuals to become members. Our ultimate belief is that we could potentially double that number of members if everyone canvases their friends and contacts.

The Trust
The RGVS trust has been set up to receive and provide safe-keeping for all funds received. The store ownership or lease will be structured for the benefit of the community. A Trust, primarily for flexibility reasons, has been formed to act as the initial vehicle for the Campaign. Until the appropriate vehicles for holding the property and operating the shop are established, the Trust will receive and hold in trust any funding offered and use such funds for and in the best interests of achieving the main objective. (To ensure the Rushlake Green Village Shop continues and thrives as a community shop owned and run by the community for the benefit of the community.)
The Trustees are:
Mike Smythe
Monica Adams Acton
Clyde Young
James Fairbairn

The structure
The following is an example of the type of organisational structure we will need to put into place to support the community store set-up and operation. In this case the model shown is for a purchase and run solution.
